1.Studying Abroad Based on Exchange Programs

We have exchange programs at universities with which the School of Humanities and the whole of University of Toyama have established academic agreements.

These programs provide students with some advantages. For example, you don’t have to pay tuition if you pay for our university. Credits that you achieve are supposed to be calculated in the same way as the credits that the University of Toyama requires for graduation. You can apply for some scholarships.

The Faculty of Humanities advertises for students who want to study abroad based on exchange programs every October and April (additional advertisement). Applicants must get an application sheet from the office of Academic and Student Affairs and then fill it out and submit it.

2.Studying Abroad at Other Universities

Even if you don’t use the exchange programs mentioned above, the credits that you receive are supposed to be calculated in the same ways as the University of Toyama credits. Also, credit can sometimes be awarded for shorter periods of study at language schools, etc. If you want us to accept your credits, you must follow the prescribed procedure before you go abroad. So consult with an advisor early.

2-1.When You Are Absent and Study Abroad

You can be absent from the University of Toyama to study aboard. If you go to universities or colleges abroad, the credits that you receive are supposed to be calculated in the same ways as the University of Toyama credits. Also, credit can sometimes be awarded for shorter periods of study at language schools, etc.

2-2.When You Stay Registered and Study at Universities That Don’t Have Exchange Programs

If you can meet some requirements, you can stay registered at University of Toyama and study at a university aboard. In this case, you have to pay tuition for both universities, but the term that you study there will be calculated as if you were at our university.

Requirements depend on countries, areas, and universities, so consult with the Academic and Student Affairs Office for more details. (We can accept credits if the requirements are met.)

2-3.(Short-term) Language Training

You might have the opportunity to take intensive language training courses at foreign universities during vacations. Currently there is no training course which the University of Toyama promotes, but you can still receive credits if your course meets the prescribed requirements.
