Hello everyone. I teach tourism studies and geography in the Social and Cultural Studies course within the Behavioral and Social-Cultural domain. Drawing from my background in behavioral and social geography, I engage in a broad range of issues related to tourism. My approach focuses on understanding tourism behavior from a micro perspective, examining psychological, social, and cultural elements such as cognition, attitudes, values, and norms.

The relationship between people and tourism can also be explored at a macro level, such as in tourism policies and regional planning. In fact, this is the approach that largely dominates tourism studies in Japan. However, the various tourism phenomena represented in statistical data, which inform the development of policies and plans, ultimately stem from the collective outcomes of individual tourists' thoughts, intentions, and actions.

When we strive to understand tourism from the perspective of the individual, who is the very constituent of the phenomenon, the approaches from behavioral science and cognitive science, which are my areas of expertise, prove highly effective. Let’s take a micro view and attempt to capture the vast forest of tourism. I look forward to engaging in discussions with all of you, face-to-face, with great enthusiasm.
